Here at The Modern Nursery we are on a mission; to create nurseries and playrooms that fit seamlessly with the rest of your home. We want to make beautiful décor a luxury that is accessible to every family, and to reintroduce the simplicity of Scandinavian design into your children’s play spaces.
A number of our interior design clients have recently gravitated towards very similar ideas, and have shone a bright light on the growing popularity of safari themed kids' rooms. Underpinned by minimalistic, earthy colour-palettes and natural wooden furniture; the safari theme lends itself perfectly to The Modern Nursery’s beautiful range of contemporary furniture and soft furnishings.

Inspired by nature, a safari-themed nursery or playroom encompasses earthy shades of yellow, green and brown. To keep things minimalistic, we recommend using muted tones, such as ecru, taupe or khaki, and highlighting with notes of rose gold, burnt orange, or even pink!
Our Aykasa Crates are perfect for building your colour-palette, and are available in multiple colourways; including Almond Green, Banana Yellow, and Milk Tea. Creative storage solutions can help to truly optimise a space, and will make tidying and organising quicker and easier. The Bloomingville Bear Storage Basket is another one of our favourites here at The Modern Nursery, and will help your safari-theme to take shape without overwhelming the space.
If you are looking to incorporate some bolder earthy tones into your playroom, statement furniture pieces such as the Nobodinoz Essaouira Velvet Bean Bag in Jungle Green, or the Nobodinoz Zanzibar Velvet Mattress in Farniente Yellow can help add another dimension to your space. You can also feature statement furniture pieces in more neutral colourways, such as the Kids Concept Teepee in Off White or the Liewood Enzo Canopy in Sandy, and create a range of different zones within your play space.

No. 2: Bring The Outside In
Introduce a fun wall feature as a backdrop with one of our Safari landscape Wall Murals. Choose from popular styles such as the Munks + Me Jungle Wallpaper - Pink or Munks + Me Paradise Jungle Wallpaper.
Whether it’s bamboo, rattan, or oak; wood and natural materials are the perfect means of bringing the outdoors in. Its natural colouring is minimalistic and versatile, and adds a textural dimension to a room. Incorporate wood into the space using subtle decorative pieces, such as the Bloomingville Bamboo Pendant Light Shade, or the ferm LIVING Sector Narrow Triple Shelf. Or, if you are looking for more of a statement for your safari room, the Bloomingville Giraffe and Bloomingville Elephant Bookcases are each woven from Bankuan grass, and will undoubtedly add a touch of story-telling charm for creative play.
No. 3: Roar On The Floor
A statement rug is the perfect way to tie any theme together. The ferm LIVING Safari Tufted Rug in Leopard adds a playful touch to a child's room, and can spark fun and imaginative play.
Rugs can also be used to bring together some of the more subtle colour-ways running through a space. The Lorena Canals Washable Rug in Botanic Plants, for example, intertwines shades of green, yellow and orange, helping to bring your safari theme to life and add a breath of fresh air into your home.

No. 4: Utilitise Your Wall Space
In order to truly convey a theme it is essential to use every space in a room - including the walls! Pair the Munks + Me Bushy Lion Kids and the Munks + Me Sun Children’s Print for a neutral feature reminiscent of a safari-scape. The Bloomingville Wall Décor Set of 2 in Palm Leaves and the Bloomingville Circle Ombre Wall Hanging are also beautiful wall features that can help to accentuate the feeling of being outside in nature.
Alternatively, the elephant, leopard, lion and giraffe heads from Ella & The Roo Original Collection can be used to make a more obvious link to the safari theme. The Bloomingville Lion Wall Hanging is also a familiar friendly face to The Modern Nursery, and can add a tactile dimension to your wall space.
