Reading with Kids
We have always LOVED Books, it's a wonderful way to spend time with your child, to calm, educate and have fun together. At The Modern Nursery we have made it our mission to bring you a curated selection of the UK's most modern books, styles that not only look good on your nursery shelves, but stories that inspire little boys and girls, with vivid illustrations and wonderful narratives.
Each book chosen has been read, enjoyed and requested by our own little product tester (over and over and over again). Here are some of our favourites:
Little People, Big Dreams
This wonderful series from "Little People, Big Dreams" focuses on the childhood of famous people. The first book follows Coco Chanel, from her early life in an orphanage - where she is a genius with needle and thread - to her time as a cabaret singer, hat maker and, eventually, international fashion designer. Other stories follow Frida Kahlo, Marie Curie, Amelia Earhart and more! We read this book to our daughter Alba from the age of 6 months. She was captivated by the simple illustrations and always let us read the whole way through - even from such a young age. One of her first words was "Coco"!
I'll Wait Mr Panda
The sequel to the International Best Seller: "Please Mr Panda". "I'll Wait Mr Panda" by author: Steve Anthony.
Everyone loves a Panda! And this Panda is making a big surprise. What is it? The animals must wait and see. But waiting is - wait for it - boring. Only one little penguin has the patience and politeness to stick around. Will he be rewarded? This delicious picture book combines stunning art, an unforgettable panda and a hilarious lesson in good manners.
The Day The Crayons Quit
The hilarious and International Bestseller "The Day the Crayons Quit" and the sequel "The Day The Crayons Came Home" by author Daywalt, Drew & Jeffers, Oliver are both available in our curated collection.
Poor Duncan just wants to colour in. But when he opens his box of crayons, he only finds letters, all saying the same thing: We quit! Beige is tired of playing second fiddle to Brown, Blue needs a break from colouring in all that water, while Pink just wants to be used. Green has no complaints, but Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking to each other. The battle lines have been drawn. What is Duncan to do?
We hope this inspires you to read more with your children, and explore the wonderful range of modern and contemporary books that will amaze the whole family!
