Designing your baby’s nursery is one of life’s big milestones! One of the most exciting things is deciding on a theme. The process of picking out special items for your little one and choosing those key essential pieces is a joy. We are seeing more parents opt to decorate with a gender-neutral approach. However, Gender-neutral doesn’t have to mean boring; a safari theme is one of the top trends.

Inside The Bowen Home

Recently we helped Olivia Bowen create her dream nursery through our Interior Design Service. Olivia wanted a gender-neutral space that was calming and serene but had the WOW factor!

Setting The Mood

The wrapped Safari Wallpaper, with birds and clouds on the ceiling, achieved just that. This beautiful wallpaper was designed specifically for Olivia's nursery and it really does create a magical atmosphere. The warm earthy tones make a delightfully subtle statement that will work in any room. You too, can achieve this look by creating a wrapped wallpaper look. On a budget? Go for a feature wall instead!

Baby Essentials

We kept the Furniture neutral with an oak cot and a  Nursing Chair in a warm Oat tone. The beautiful rocking chair took centre stage creating the perfect feeding area with the cosy ABC Rug. Thinking of the practical soloutions is really important when planning your space, but you can still add a few unique pieces such as the  Giraffe Table Lamp and a gorgeous side table. These elements will to help to elevate the design whilst still being vital on those late-night feeds. The footstool also has handy hidden storage to keep all those baby necessities close by.

Storage Solutions

Bring in a mix of textures like Cane and rattan through accessories such as  Storage Baskets and a  Changing Basket. And add beautiful details like the stunning Elephant Shelves and the Animal hooks, these add to the safari theme and give you extra space for displaying cute little items. We worked with Space Tidy to design a built-in wall unit to really maximise the space. Plenty of crates and small fabric baskets ensure this area will keep your busy days organised.

Finishing Touches

We used Farrow and Ball Oxford Stone on Olivia's wall which compliments the wallpaper perfectly. For a safari theme, we love hues of Terracotta, Mustard and Forest green. Dashes of Pink work beautifully too. You can add flashes of colour like Lion Cushion and the handsome Standing Giraffe to tie the space together and bring the fun.
